New Business card...

Upcoming things in which I am dabbling my toes

Here is a list of events that I will be performing or exhibiting at over the next couple of months, its starting to get busy...so this is just as much a guide for me as for you!

TECHNICOLOUR MOON SITE RELAUNCH >> NEW STYLE

I have overhauled the Tech Moon site and given it a much more professional edge. We are starting to get quite a lot of interest now, that only means exciting times ahead for myself and the t-mooners!

For any aspiring illustrators and artists out there struggling for exposure or ideas - your friends can often hold the key. Setting up a collective is a sure fire way to double your chances of work and exposure, and reflects as a more viable option for potential suitors. It is one of the best things that I have done in time as I can struggle for motivation but to have fellow artists in constant contact is a true inspiration.

Click on the artist link and make sure that you check out Dan Staffords link, he is producing some wonderful imagery and working with very high profile clientele.

Please pop over there and have a ganders at what we are up too. We take part in a lot of live community art events, and your support is crucial to any success we may have. Thanks.

Facial

After some midnight trips to abandoned houses and Celtic burial grounds i decided it was nigh on time to get back into generating some new scary face designs. I have been concentrating a lot of my time into both Technicolour Moon and the Secret Wars projects of late - so it was nice to get back into making some nice digital illustrations.

Here are a couple of glimpses of images and styles that I will be using in upcoming projects.

Secret Wars Bournemouth vs. Lisbon Away

Strangley this took place in Porto but it was nice none-the-less to get away and take in some European culture; be it a fleeting 2 day Super Bock (Portuguese beer) fuelled giggle-inducing art fest, to one of the most awe-inspiring views from a toilet seat I have ever experienced...see below. The whole trip was an experience, from them tactically giving us as much free beer as we wanted and us changing our plan of what to draw endless times right up until pen was placed onto fresh white board.

So this was our first away battle and the beautiful city of Porto played host to us. After an early drive to Stansted airport we arrived in Portugal very tired but itching to find our club and hotel, we dropped off the bags and made the short walk to Maus Habitas. After handing out a bunch of Casio watches, pens, banners, and tshirts to the Lisbon crew we were interviewed by a national newspaper and then proceeded to explore, get drunk and have a laugh.

The art was also a great fun...

Mr.Baker Apparel in the pipeline...

Some exciting news as it looks certain that at some point in 2010 I will be teaming up with talented artist Gaspar Lepage to create designs for clothing and other accessories. There are already some concepts on his site (click)...

Im thinking of using both existing imagery and I have plans for some hot new collaborations. It looks like we are going to be going for a water based style similiar to that of All Saints mens clothing ranges...

Bournemouth Street Art

Found this rather interesting and talented artwork on an underpass in Bournemouth...

Space Fascination...

I am not going to lie, I have been amazed with the night sky since I travelled to South Africa when I was younger, I stayed in a Safari for 3 nights and with no light pollution the sky there at night is a JOY to behold - you can see the white haze of our galaxy; there is probably nothing to this day that I have found as inspiring as the stars.

So when I stumbled across this beauty of a site (click), filled with tonnes of images from space or of space then I just felt compelled to share it with anyone who reads this. its updated everyday, this image ironically isn't of the stars but a beaut picture of a manmade phenomenon - the space shuttle. Click on it - ITS AWESOME Check it!

Wolf Magazine cover illustration

Got commissioned through a friend to create an illustration for the inaugural issue of Wolf magazine; a mens fashion mag aimed for the creative individual. It was fun to once again get working with a brief and size restriction. Heres the final copy...

Angelpoise Lamps

In an exciting new project I have been asked to draw for the iconic lampshade company; Anglepoise. They supplied Technicolour Moon with 3 massive lampshades to draw on, inspired by our live art performances they asked us to draw similiar designs. The shades are massive, check this link to give you some idea, but imagine a giant desk lamp in the corner of your room - drawn on by yours truly. I WANT ONE!

Here is part of the my design (red), halfway through, unfortunately right now I have no further images than this scrappy one in my bedroom! The other two are collaborative designs from the Tech Moon team.

This is a massively exciting project, they are already funding our purchases of equipment, sponsoring the Moon Street project and hopefully we can form some collaborative exhibitions that include their lights.

Some Typography designs

Some samples of typography from various recent projects, including my new website design, logos and Technicolour Moon Apparel designs.

Behance overhaul...

Right so I thought it necessary to give my online presence a bit of an overhaul. The move down south had made me lazy in updating my progress and so I decided bring myself into shape. I joined the gym, DW fitness - good stuff £20 all in, but I also decided to get back on Behance. Its a great site with easily updatable profiles and a real community spirit. Check it!
